This tennis pick comes from an ATP Challenger Tour event in Bergamo, where German player Matthias Bachinger meets Italian Simone Bolelli in the second round. The 26-year-old German Matthias Bachinger, current world No. 166, is mainly known as a Challenger Tour player, who has already won 3 titles on that level and reached finals on other seven occassions. His career-best ranking is world No. 85 (achieved in August 2011) and best achievement on the ATP World Tour a semifinal showing on red clay in Bucharest in 2012. But Bachinger's game is most effective on fast surface and he considers grass and indoors hard courts his favourite surfaces. His opponent will be the 28-year-old Italian Simone Bolelli, who without any doubt has more success and overall better career than his opponent. In the end Bolelli used to be a solid Top 50 player, who was ranked as high as No. 36 in 2009, reached one ATP World Tour final and defeated several high quality players such as Del Potro, Berdych, Wawrinka, Monfils or Safin. So there is no doubt that Bolelli is capable of playing some really good tennis and especially his forehand has always been a great weapon. But the fact is that he played just 13 matches in 2013 and has not played a match since his first round loss to Grigor Dimitrov in Wimbledon last year. Yes, this is Bolelli's first tournament in almost 7 months and it is logical that he lacks match practice and needs some time before he starts playing his best tennis again. Bolelli defeated Italian qualifier Gaio in the first round but Matthias Bachinger with his good serve (did not face a single breakpoint in his first round match against Desein) will be much more difficult opponent and we do not believe that the Italian is ready for such a test.
